On your turn

Three action points, four ways to spend them

Dice and card draws bring the luck. Which of the four you pick, and when, is the game.

1

Draw a Spell

Take a spell card from the deck into your hand. No roll, no risk.

2

Capture a Parteam

Reveal or pick a Parteam and roll two dice against its Capture Value. Beat it and it joins your team.

3

Battle

Send one of your Parteams at a rival's. Both roll two dice and add power; the lower total is out. Once per turn.

4

Cast a Slow Spell

Use the effect of a Slow Spell from your hand/

Or spend two action points at once to march your whole team against the boss, Lazarof.

Awakening

Every Parteam can be Awakened

Awakened Parteams hit harder and unlock a game-changing ability. A team of four awakened types is one of the two ways to win — so awakening isn't a bonus, it's the goal.

1

Meet the condition

Each card names its own Condition— draw Spells, win a battle, cast Spells... It only starts counting once the Parteam is on your team. Once the condition is met the Parteam is Awakened.

2

Place a token

Put an Awaken token on the Parteam. Its Awakened Power replaces its Base Power for the rest of the game, or until it dies.

3

Unlock the ability

The Parteam's ability switches on and stays on, each type firing at its own moment in the round.

Two ways to win

Build the better team — or slay the dragon

The tactician's win

A team of four

Be the first to form a team of four different types of awakened Parteams. Every capture, every condition, every awakening builds toward it.

The gambler's win

Defeat Lazarof

Throw your whole team's power at the Dragon Boss in one roll. He starts at 20 power and grows for every attacker. Lose and you sacrifice a Parteam.

Who made this

Two years, one stubborn physics student and a dream

Parteam

I've always loved creature-collecting games, and I never felt there was a board game that really did the idea justice. So I built one.

I started at 26, a physics student working on it in my free time. Most of the two years since went into playtesting and balance — because I wanted the luck of the dice and the draw to matter, and for there to be a real game of strategy underneath.

“May the luck of the dice be with you.”

Questions

Good to know

Do I need to know a card game to play?

No. Set-up is a few minutes, and the Helping Cards plus a one-page summary get a new group playing straight away. The full rulebook is there for edge cases.

How many people can play?

Two to four. There's a dedicated set of two-player rules in the box, and the game plays as a free-for-all with three or four.

Is it all luck?

Dice and draws decide outcomes, but you choose which Parteams to chase, when to awaken them, which spells to hold, and whether to race for a team of four or gamble on the boss.

What's in the box?

Over 120 cards in all — 54 Parteam cards, 54 spell cards, 8 Tamer cards and the Lazarof boss card — plus 4 dice, 30 tokens, 4 Helping Cards and the rulebook.

Will there be expansions?

The base game is complete and standalone. Expansions will come later — follow along on Instagram or Discord.

Become the best Tamer
